Factoid: Who started the 4th of July as a holiday?
The 4th of July was celebrated as our Independence Day in 1777. John Adams predicted in a letter to his wife Abigail that Americans would celebrate their Independence Day on July 2. Off by two days — not too bad for government work!
We hope everyone has a safe and rewarding 4th of July!

Factoid: Who came up with the 4th of July as a holiday?
On July 4th, the Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence, which had been written largely by Thomas Jefferson. Though the vote for actual independence took place on July 2nd, from then on, the 4th became the day that was celebrated as the birth of American independence.
We hope everyone has a safe and rewarding 4th of July holiday!

Let each one of us make a promise, that as long as we live, we will be good citizens of our country in the best of our capabilities and we will help America grow into a better nation with each passing day.
Factoid: When was the Declaration of Independence signed?
In fact, independence was formally declared on July 2, 1776, a date that John Adams believed would be "the most memorable epocha in the history of America." On July 4, 1776, Congress approved the final text of the Declaration. It wasn't signed until August 2, 1776.
We hope everyone has a safe and rewarding 4th of July!
